In 5th grade, a child enters the class as a primary student and leaves a middle school student. It is critical that throughout the year, students become academically and socially ready for that transition to middle school. Instruction, especially in the areas of reading, writing, and math, will be rigorous to ensure that readiness. As a student, you need to take responsibility for your education. This requires being prepared for class, having the materials you need, listening, following directions, completing your work, and handing in assignments on time, including homework. Parents, to ensure your child’s success, please encourage your child at home by confirming they have completed their assignments, helping them study for tests, and providing feedback on special assignments if necessary. We will have several exciting projects this year and I can’t wait to see all your creativity and achievements over the next months.
I am looking forward to a great year!
Many Blessings,
Mrs. Bourquin
Lord, make me a channel of your peace, that where there is hatred,
I may bring love;
where there is wrong,
I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
where there is discord,
I may bring harmony;
where there is error,
I may bring truth;
where there is doubt,
I may bring faith;
where there is despair,
I may bring hope;
where there are shadows,
I may bring light;
where there is sadness,
I may bring joy;
Lord grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted;
To understand than to be understood;
To love than to be loved;
For it is by forgetting self that one finds,
it is by forgiving that one is forgiven,
it is by dying that one awakens to eternal life.
