(An aerie is the nest of a bird on a mountaintop)
Mrs. Sue Burrell
The 8th grade homeroom is designated the Eagles’ Aerie because these students are the leaders of Pope John Paul II Catholic School. As the oldest students in the school, they enjoy certain privileges and are charged with the duty and responsibility of providing leadership and good example at all times. Early in this school year, the 8th grade students will each decorate a mini-eagle and mount it in the classroom in a place of their choosing. This eagle will represent their acceptance of the privileges and responsibilities of being an 8th grade leader at PJPII. Congratulations to our outstanding 8th Grade Eagles!
Our middle school Language Arts program aims at developing and improving our students’ reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, and critical thinking skills for the purpose of creating effective communicators for today’s society, and lifelong learners. Various brain-based teaching strategies will be used including cooperative learning, group projects, independent work and student choice where appropriate.

8th Grade Religion presents the Church from her beginning at Pentecost, encompassing her teachings and Tradition. The Ten Commandments and making moral choices is emphasized. It presents the mission of the Church, entrusted to her by Jesus, as the responsibility of all baptized Catholics.
