My Catholic education is important to me and has made a huge impact in my life. Whether I am at the mall shopping for clothes, or meeting someone for the first time, or watching the news, my Catholic education definitely positively affects how I live my day-to-day life. The reasons why I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend Catholic school are: it has provided me with a strong foundation and it helps me to grow in my faith. I am forever appreciative that my parents made the decision to send me to Catholic school, despite the sacrifices they had to make to get me to where I am today.
With its endless supply of benefits and advantages, it’s no wonder attending Catholic school forms a strong foundation for the years to come. I have been enrolled in Catholic school since I was five years old in kindergarten. From the very beginning, even in the days of coloring with crayons, playing dress-up, and building towers with wooden blocks, the rules of sharing, playing fairly, and treating others the way I wanted to be treated have been instilled in me. As I matured and grew older, these values morphed into making moral decisions, respecting authority, being sensitive and aware of others’ feelings, and trying to live as Jesus did. Not only in religion, but in every class, good Christian morals are taught with everything we learn. A Catholic education provides a strong foundation to grow on.
Helping me to grow in my faith is another reason why a Catholic education is important to me. As a Catholic school, we have the spectacular privilege of attending Mass weekly. This not only gives me two chances to go to Church every week, it supplies a better understanding of the Bible readings read on Sunday and the logistics of the Mass. For example, I have learned why the priest performs certain actions and how everything that occurs during the Mass symbolizes a unique aspect of the Catholic Church. I am so blessed that I can always seek the advice of a teacher whenever I have a question about anything spiritual. Kids at public schools don’t have this opportunity. They aren’t able to pray daily, or attend the sacrament of Reconciliation, or even go to Mass during the week. Catholic education also helps to develop a better relationship with God because everyday you are learning more and more about Him. Growing in faith is another benefit of Catholic school.
Going to Catholic school means so much to me and continues to make a difference in my life. Two reasons why this is true are: the strong foundation it provides and how it aids me in growing in faith. Everything I’ve learned, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, will always be a part of who I am, thanks to my Catholic education.
