In accordance with Section 1006.61(1), Florida Statutes, PJPII School has posted this notice that all employees have a duty to report all actual or suspected cases of child abuse, abandonment, or neglect; have immunity from liability if they report, and have a duty to comply with child protective investigations.
In accordance with Section 1006.61(2), Florida Statutes, PJPII School has posted these policies and procedures for reporting misconduct by instructional personnel or school administrators which affects the health, safety, or welfare of a student, the contact person to whom the report is made, and the penalties for failure to report.

Child Abuse Reporting Requirements for School Personnel
PJPII uses the following procedures for reporting child abuse:
• Anyone who suspects child abuse is ethically obligated to report that abuse.
• Under Florida statutes 39.201, persons LEGALLY obligated to report are:
• School teachers and all other school personnel
• Social workers, foster care workers
• Physicians, nurses, hospital personnel
• Medical examiners, law enforcement officers
• Day-care workers, residential and institutional workers
• Mandatory reporters are required to give their names.
• Any professional failing to report, or preventing another to report, is guilty of a first-degree
misdemeanor and may be prosecuted.
• “Child” is defined as an unmarried person under 18 years of age.
• FS 39.203, Anyone making a report “in good faith” is specifically immune from any civil
or criminal liability charges
• The name of a person who reports abuse will NOT be released to anyone other than
the employees of DCF, law enforcement or the state attorney without WRITTEN consent
of the person reporting.
• School personnel are advised to discuss the suspicion or situation of abuse with the
administrator and/or guidance counselor.
• Administrator and/or guidance counselor will assist in the completion of report summary
(form provided on Administrators’ Website)
• Administrator and/ or guidance counselor will WITNESS the report.
• School staff must understand, the person who had initially received the information MUST
make the report
• The administrator or guidance counselor can not make the report for another person.
School Personnel Responsibility:
• To report abuse as mandated by law to the Florida Abuse Hotline IMMEDIATELY!
• To provide a safe place for the child within the school as appropriate.
• To provide a private place for in-school interviews.
• To participate in the DCF interview if requested by the student/ parent and agreed
upon by DCF and/ or Law Enforcement
