Welcome to our website and a brief glimpse into our learning community,
Pope John Paul II Catholic School.
As the principal of the school, I am honored to invite you to look through the different facets of our website. We are a small diocesan Catholic school serving the six parishes in Citrus County, Florida. Our school provides educational services for students ranging from Early Childhood (three year olds) through the eighth grade. We are a multicultural learning community, where everyone—students, parents, teachers and staff engage in lifelong learning and spiritual growth. Pope John Paul II Catholic School is fully accredited through the Florida Catholic Conference (FCC), and we adhere to the standards and principles required of all Catholic schools in the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Our curriculum is composed of diocesan standards, as well as the Common Core Standards ratified by the Florida Department of Education and the FCC. Our teachers are licensed through the state of Florida in their respective subject areas. The students are at the heart of all we do here at Pope John Paul II. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where all of our young people grow and develop academically, physically, and spiritually. We are very proud of the academic success of our students, as evidenced by our scores on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. On average, our students score above the national average for private schools. Supplementing our academic program is our co-curricular program, which includes numerous athletic teams, chorus and various other activities. In reaching out to young people, as a ministry within the Catholic Church, evangelization plays a key role in what we do here at Pope John Paul II. Gospel values are infused into our curriculum, and the entire school community strives to incorporate these values into their daily lives. The collaborative work of parents, pastors, parish communities and school personnel seeks to educate the whole child in the atmosphere of a loving, faith-filled community. Our school endeavors to provide not only academic excellence, but an excellence rooted in a viable Catholic identity and strong Christian values and ideals. Our teachers are wonderful, competent and talented educators who serve our children as faith leaders. They design programs that challenge students to think reflectively and critically, while recognizing each child’s own unique talents and gifts. They encourage and guide our students into becoming productive, responsible members of our Church and society, all the while modeling the way for each young person in their care. Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We would love to discuss the many benefits of our school with you, so please don’t hesitate to contact us for further information.
Peace, Christopher Meyer, Principal
