The World Language Curriculum is based upon our Catholic view of the world and the special relationship we have with God. Language is a gift. Language, like our Catholic faith, is essential to our existence. The study of language has multiple educational and cultural benefits. It is our belief students profit academically, spiritually, and socially from exposure to another culture and the languages associated with it. Our goal is to offer each student an avenue of learning that allows them to focus on mastery of language skills through listening, speaking, reading, writing, and the study of culture so that they may learn effectively to communicate in the target language. Through their learning it is our prayer that they develop into individuals who are interconnected to a global society and respectful of others ideas, ways of thinking, practices and values.
This curriculum was compiled with valuable input from the Language Arts, World Language, and Religion teachers of the diocese.
